I thought the Kneser method was a riemann mapping from a piece of the brown curve of Gottfried's first 2 pics onto the positive real axis.

But those pics show selfcrossing !

Hence what did I miss about the Kneser method ?

Of course those selfcrossings can be undone by another mapping but then it seems arbitrary and I wonder how to keep the property of analytic ?

Hmm it seems possible to get both by polygon interpolation of the points then map the polygon by riemann mapping to the real line and then sort out the selfcrossing by finding the crossings.

But that seems kind of sloppy.
