suppose our account or computer gets hacked or password stolen and someone logs in and deletes things.

Is there a protection ?

roll-back or something ?

the content is getting quite large so it would be a shame if stuff gets lost.
Tommy...

This is stupid...

Protect yourself...

No one wants to hack you or take credit for your work by hacking you...

Get over yourself...

Relax, man

This forum has enough security that to be hacked is your own fault.

Relax, man

The number one rule of cyber security is if you got hacked, it's your fucking fault...
I was not only talking for myself but for everyone and the content.
Oh in that case, I've made regular backups of this forum on a month or so basis; ever since Bo revealed his health problems. I also have an AWS account solely for the use of backing up this website. I haven't used it (because I ain't trying to pay 8$ a month until I have to), but it's ready to be utilized. I believe Gottfried and Daniel are doing the same. If you want, you can help by backing up to. Since this is largely a text based website, it only takes up about 8 gbs of space each time you do it, and it's pretty easy to do!
FYI - I don't have access for backups or any other connection beyond using the Forum as a regular user. We talked about doing something a year ago, but folks wanted people like Sheldon involved, but I don't think he or others have made an appearance in the last year. This really bothered me for a long time, it would be a real crime to let the Forum just fade away. Then I just had to let it go and hope others have things covered.
Best Wishes
Just to inform: I've got only Mod privileges, no Backup-account.
Lmao,

I don't have mod privileges. I don't have any privileges.

I'm literally downloading the forum as is, as an HTML document. It amounts to about 8 gbs.

You don't need mod privileges. You just need to be willing to store 8gbs of offline data..

Nothing fancy at all!

I'll restore everything again, because both of your misunderstanding shows that you missed the point.

Download the forum as an HTML document; and store it....

I apologize, Daniel.

I just mean, we never got to transfer power over, the way we planned to. And we had a small window to do this with Henryk. Heryk didn't want to do this without Sheldon.

There's no going back.

But we can all create backups of this forum. And if, need be, we just roll back the forum on a new server using the data we've stored.

I think this is the bare minimum we can do.
